The Puerto Rico Chapter of the American Physiological Society (local chapter of the American Physiological Society) unites physiologists and students across the Island of Puerto Rico interested in the physiological sciences and in the advancement of the field through the discussion of ideas, issues, research initiatives, discoveries, publications, and novel developments.

Ponce School of Medicine and Health Sciences, together with the University of Puerto Rico and the Universidad Central Del Caribe, take great pleasure in welcoming you to the Fourth Annual Meeting of the Puerto Rico Physiological Society. The meeting will be held on Saturday, February 8th, 2014 in the historic city of Ponce, and will provide a forum for physiologists of all levels to share information and strengthen networking and collaborative efforts.

Following the successful format of previous years, we will have a mixture of speakers from the U.S. mainland and Puerto Rico, representation from the APS and a poster session to promote physiological sciences on the island for scientific and educational purposes.

We highly encourage the local scientific community, particularly students, to register for this meeting and consider submitting an abstract by December 20, 2013.
The scope of research eligible for the poster session is broad and may encompass any basic or translational research related to physiological processes occurring within the body. Since the primary objective of the poster session is to encourage interactions and meaningful discussions among junior and senior scientists the research presented need not be related specifically to the impact of exercise
Awards will be given to the top three posters.

We look forward to your participation in this event which will focus on Exercise Physiology and its impact throughout the body, from ‘molecules to systems’.  For meeting registration, abstract submission, meeting program, and other inquiries, please visit our website at www.psm.edu/prps

On behalf of the organizing committee, we look forward to seeing you soon!
