Who is eligible?
The scholarship is open to girls ages 13-18 that are able to attend one of our scheduled Intro to Software engineering courses. You do not need any previous coding experience to apply. The scholarship is only open to residents of the United States.
Do I have to live in one of the cities the courses are in?
No! As long as you are a legal resident of the United States, you can apply. However, the scholarship only covers tuition for the Intro to Software Engineering course. Students will be responsible for their own travel and housing costs.
Do I have to take the class this summer?
Yes. Winners must take the Intro to Software Engineering course this summer (2015). If they are not able to attend, they can transfer the prize to another person as long as that person meets the same eligibility requirements.
How will winners be selected?
All entries will be judged based on their video submissions as to why participants want to learn how to code. Decisions of the judges are final and binding.
Do I need to bring my own computer?
If you have a Mac laptop, you can use your own computer in class. We provide students who don’t have Mac laptops with customized Chromebooks t hey can use in class (and take home) for the duration of the semester. There is no fee associated with using a loaner.
HOW TO APPLY
Create a 30 to 90 second video explaining why you want to learn how to code and upload it to YouTube. Then, fill out our application form and include a link to your video.
