The American Physiological Society’s Frontiers in Physiology: Integrating Inquiry, Equity and the Internet program offers middle and high school science teachers a unique opportunity to work in the research laboratory of an APS member during the summer. Since 1990, more than 206 APS members have hosted over 400 teachers nationwide. Subsequently, over 200,000 students have directly benefited from this program.
I encourage you to forward my email announcement below to a science teacher in your local school district and/or to a fellow APS member who might be interested in recruiting and hosting a science teacher during the summer of 2014. Completed applications are dueJanuary 20, 2014. Frontiers in Physiology is funded this year by the APS and is a competitive fellowship program. The APS typically funds 50% – 70% of applicants each year.

2014 Frontiers in Physiology Fellowship: $6,700 Summer Research Opportunity
Science teachers of grades 6-12 are invited to apply for this year-long immersion in the world of cutting-edge physiology research sponsored by the American Physiological Society (APS). Partnered with a local APS member scientist, fellows do hands-on research for 7-8 weeks during the summer, as well as explore and practice teaching methods that integrate inquiry, equity and the Internet into their classrooms. The fellowship concludes with a trip to a scientific conference in 2015 to Boston, MA. Awardees receive a stipend of up to $6,700 over the fellowship year that includes travel and a mini-grant for classroom materials. Applications are due no later than January 20, 2014.
