The Department of Physiology at Tulane University teamed up with the Department of Biomedical Engineering and other departments to develop a new interdisciplinary PhD program in Bioinnovation that aims to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions to complex biomedical problems. This training program, funded through the NSF-IGERT mechanism, provides financial support and educational resources for science and engineering PhD fellows to conduct translational research across Tulane's Schools of Science & Engineering and Medicine. Additional programmatic links with the Schools of Business and Law and the FDA further prepare trainees for careers as leaders at the interface of academia and industry.
