JOB DESCRIPTION

The CDC Foundation seeks candidates for a full time Health Communication Specialist to support the CDC.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate health communication strategies that follow science-based messages and meet public health mission and goals.
• Build and execute social media content strategy, create editorial calendars, and publish and share daily content that builds public health awareness among the general public.
• Translate technical information into user friendly web content appropriate for the general public, and work with program staff to incorporate plain language and web design principles.
• Prepares content and coordinates production and dissemination of a variety of digital and print formats including web pages, social media posts, videos, print, etc.
• Proactively coordinates with programmatic staff across the health department to provide support based on PRDOH priorities.
• Reviews and coordinate clearance of messages and health promotion materials with program subject matter experts, and communications leadership.
• Ensures that documents conform to agency’s branding and style.
• Work independently to identify and propose solutions to respond to program needs and meet deadlines.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with partners and stakeholders to identify message amplification opportunities.
• Attend internal and external meetings as requested.
 • Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field
• 3-5 years professional, related experience
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Fluent in both Spanish and English
• Experience managing social media accounts
• Knowledge and experience in web content management, design, usability assessment and evaluation skills.
• Audiovisual skills and experience suitable for addressing social media and web content needs
• Proficient use of different computer programs (Microsoft Office).
• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated success as a team player.
• Ability to interact with individuals from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds.
• Strong organizational skills and highly capable of tracking, summarizing, and reporting project activities.
 • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to efficiently lead and organize multiple priorities
