Under the direction of the Project Director and the Assistant Vice President for Academic Quality, the Director of the Center for Academic Research (CAR) will plan, direct, and administer the Center’s activities, initiatives, and strategic planning. This position will primarily support activities as described in the federal grant proposal: A CULTURE OF RESEARCH ACHIEVEMENT AT SAGRADO (CoRA-Sagrado) [USDoEd Award P031C210100].

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the Principal Investigator (PI) of CoRA-Sagrado in a full-time position dedicated to supervising the day-to-day functions of the project including but not limited to budgeting, hiring, serving as liaison to the PD & co-PD, and collaborating with other Sagrado departments and offices.
  • Serve as the Director of the newly established unit, the Center for Academic Research, reporting to the Assistant Vice-president for Academic Quality, and directly supervise its staff.
  • To promote a culture of research in which additional funding will be pursued within all the Schools and departments of the Vice-presidency of Academic Affairs (VPAA).
  • Maintain a process to monitor grant compliance. 
  • Create and maintain systems for dissemination of information about the Center’s achievements and other grants-related information. 
  • Provide a full spectrum of assistance to faculty and staff in the planning, writing, program design, budget development, and evaluation of grants. 
  • Maintain a positive, proactive relationship with Accounting, Purchasing, HR, Payroll, OGER and funding agencies to ensure full grant compliance and process efficiency. 
  • Create, design, and implement processes and procedures related to grants management and proposal development. 
  • Create and write materials related to grants development and grants management. 
  • Conduct one-on-one training and group workshops to develop and write grant proposals. 
  • Advise project directors concerning negotiation of new grants, effective startups, and grant management issues. 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited college/university. 
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Knowledge or experience in the fields of STEM and research.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in successful grant management and monitoring in the field of economic and workforce development, education, or related fields. 
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of university students and employees.
  • Principles and techniques of grant proposal writing and budgeting. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
