The Biology & Chemistry department at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as an Assistant Professor, Biology. The anticipated start date is August 5, 2024.
RESPONSIBILITIES: We seek a highly trained biologist with expertise in the field of biology conducting research complementary to our current faculty. The candidate will teach courses that may include environmental testing methods, conservation biology, ecology, advanced ecology, environmental biology, principles of biology and courses in candidate’s specialty. The position requires the ability to obtain external funding for a robust research program working with undergraduate and M.S. biology students. Our location within the Daniel Boone National Forest, with a nearby fish hatchery and Corp. of Engineers reservoir, provides extensive teaching and research opportunities for field biology research.
REQUIREMENTS: A Ph.D. in Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field is required. The applicant must have broad undergraduate and graduate Biology training; post-doctoral and/or professional environmental experience preferred. Ph.D. must be from an accredited institution in the individual’s discipline as recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Exceptions will be those non-doctoral degrees considered to be terminal degrees by discipline-specific accrediting bodies recognized by the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation (CORPA).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Teaching experience in a higher education environment.
