Hola a todos: La Universidad de Kentucky en Lexington recientemente supo que les renovaron su programa de investigacion para subgraduados. Son 10 semanas de investigacion en el area de bioquimica celular y molecular. Pagan $4,600 por las 10 semanas mas hospedaje gratis. Es muy posible que tambien paguen el boleto de avion desde Puerto Rico. We are now accepting applications for Summer 2010. NOTE NEW PROGRAM DATES!!! Program dates: June 1 to August 6, 2010 Application deadline: Friday April 16, 2010 The Summer Program in the Biochemical Sciences at the University of Kentucky is a ten week program that involves undergraduates in cutting edge biochemical research. The goal of the Program is to encourage student participants to pursue careers in the biochemical sciences. A wide variety of projects are offered, including research in structural biology, biophysics, proteomics, protein and nucleic acid chemistry, membrane biochemistry, and molecular biology. Participants will receive training in basic laboratory techniques and safety, and the nuts and bolts of research. Participants will also be exposed to the wide variety of career options available in the biochemical sciences. At the conclusion of the Program, all participants will present their research as both a short talk and a poster. Awards will be given for the best presentations. Outstanding undergraduate students who have little or no opportunity to participate in research in their home institutions and students from groups UNDERREPRESENTED in the biochemical sciences are strongly encouraged to apply. All student participants will receive a stipend and housing, and reasonable travel costs will be covered. This REU Site Program is targeted at undergraduates who are residents of Appalachia and/or underrepresented minorities. Outstanding applicants from other groups will be considered. It is a requirement of the NSF that all REU participants be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Students participants will be provided with a stipend ($4600 for the ten week program in 2010) and housing in one of the University of Kentucky's dormitories. Reasonable travel expenses can be reimbursed.
