Qualifications:

  • Ph.D.in Astronomy or Astrophysics and Post-Doctoral Experience Preferred.
  • Preferred experience in observational or instrumentation applied to Astronomy or Astrophysics.
  • Demonstrated evidence of potential for excellent teaching and scholarship
  • Committed to develop research and educational activities for the Humacao Observatory.
  • Ability to comunicate effectively in Spanish and English.
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of campus and department mission nationally or internationally.


The successful candidate will teach courses in the department and is expected to have a strong undergraduate research program. The Department of Physics & Electronics offers a major in Applied Physics and Electronics. Recognized by the American Institute of Physics the Department of Physics and Electronics at The University of Puerto Rico - Humacao as one of the top minority undergraduate Departments with the largest number of degrees conferred.
