Description of Work

Position will provide computational bioinformatics services for faculty, staff and students. These services include but are not limited to genome or transcriptome assembly, SNP and variant analysis, differential gene expression, added-value annotation and/or visualization of results, statistical tests, integration of multiple data sources, and custom programming.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computational biology, mathematics, bioinformatics, computer science, statistics, or a related quantitative field of study plus eight years of experience in a relevant quantitative field required. A Master’s or Ph.D. will substitute for some or all of the required experience. Experience with statistics/biostatistics and data analysis are essential. Proficiency in the use of Perl and at least one other relevant programming language is necessary. Must have a working knowledge of the Linux operating system and Knowledge and/or experience in current bioinformatics tools and applications, such as genome analysis and assembly, gene expression, and variant analysis.
