Ecological Society of America Office of Education & Diversity Programs
The Ecological Society of America's Office of Education and Diversity Programs works to increase diversity within ecology-related professions, and to improve the quality of ecology education at all levels.
ESA's HQ is based in Washington DC. Several internships are available year round. The following are among the duties that could be assigned, depending on qualifications and interest:
Assist with planning for education events or workshops for undergraduate faculty or students. Assist with high school outreach programs. Develop content for newsletter. Prepare presentations on education programs. Assist with new program development. Support web-based applications for educational resources. Assist with surveys. Compile data for evaluation and assist with analysis. Fundraising and development activities.
Other Qualifications: Interest in ecology or science education and/or marketing or business. Ability to interact cooperatively and effectively with a diverse staff, committees, student leaders, faculty and the public. Excellent computer skills and strong knowledge of MS Office Suite. Excellent writing and presentation skills. Ability to speak Spanish a plus.
Preference for 3- month availability. Interest in longer internships can be discussed. Internships may be paid or unpaid depending on availability of external funding.
