The Mount Sinai International Exchange Program for Underrepresented Minorities is accepting applications. Deadline: January 31, 2017

The program is highly competitive and provides an international research training experience for students and recent graduates of minority backgrounds. Selected applicants first travel to New York City for an intensive orientation during the first week of June, then they are deployed for 11 weeks to work in biomedical research projects with mentors who are renown scientists in any of the following countries: Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Spain, South Africa, India and Costa Rica. 

Who is Eligible?

Students in bachelor's, master's or doctoral programs and recent graduates who are minorities underrepresented in science and medicine and are US citizens. Applicants must be available to attend orientation in New York during the first week of June and travel to their assigned country for 10-11 consecutive weeks (June - August).  

Benefits

Selected applicants work full-time with their international research mentors and complete a publishable scientific paper. The program provides:

  • Stipends and travel insurance
  • Support and mentoring in biomedical research and scientific writing
