CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY JUNIOR FACULTY SEARCHES IN THEORETICAL PARTICLE ASTROPHYSICS/COSMOLOGY, EXPERIMENTAL CONDENSED MATTER PHYSICS, AND MEDICAL IMAGING The Department of Physics in the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University is searching for one or more junior faculty members at the assistant professor level and invites applications in the following areas: particle astrophysics/cosmology theory, experimental condensed matter physics, and medical imaging. Particle astrophysics theory candidates working at the interface of cosmology and particle theory and who might benefit from interactions with our strong experimental group working on dark matter, CMB, and high energy cosmic rays, and who can broaden the existing active cosmology theory group, are particularly encouraged to apply. Experimental condensed matter physics candidates are sought in all areas, especially those that will complement or strengthen the department's current experimental and theoretical programs, which include strong efforts in electronic materials, nanoscale physics and materials, optics, and soft condensed matter. Medical imaging candidates are solicited whose interests lie amongst the various modalities (such as MRI, CT, PET, including their functional applications) and in fostering interdisciplinary and industrial collaborations. Candidates should be committed to excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The standard teaching load is one course per semester. Information about the department may be found at http://www.phys.case.edu. Applications should consist of a CV, brief summaries of research and teaching interests, and at least three letters of recommendation. Electronic applications are strongly preferred. These must be in pdf format and should be sent to PATsearch@phys.case.edu, CMEsearch@phys.case.edu, or ImagingSearch@phys.case.edu, in a single file. The applicant should arrange for the recommendation letters to be sent to the appropriate email address listed above. Mail applications are discouraged but may be sent to Department of Physics, CWRU, 10900 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44116-7079. Applicants are encouraged to submit materials at their earliest convenience; those received by December 1, 2007 will receive full consideration. Case Western Reserve University is committed to diversity and is an affirmative action, equal opportunity employer. Applications from women and minorities are encouraged. Case has received an NSF ADVANCE grant to increase the participation of women in science and engineering.
