A full time laboratory technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Irving E. Vega at the Department of Biology in the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras Campus. Dr. Vega’s laboratory focuses on the identification and characterization of biomarkers linked to the process of tau-mediated neurodegeneration in diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. The successful candidate should have vast experience in molecular biology (e.g. cloning, genotyping), biochemical techniques (immunoprecipitation, chromatography, western blotting), immunohistology and cell culture. Additional experience in the utilization and management of transgenic mouse colonies is desired. This NIH-funded position will also require the daily maintenance of the laboratory. The duties include maintaining laboratory documents and purchasing records, ordering and management of laboratory supplies, making solutions and reagents and other general tasks associated to the laboratory work. Master Degree in biology or related field is preferred.
