REB plans, directs, and conducts etiological research, effectiveness research, dissemination and implementation research, and rigorous evaluations of strategies and approaches that focus on the prevention of violence. |

Position Description (per vacancy announcement: https://jobsdev.cdc.gov/ This position is located in CDC’s Office of the Deputy Director for Non-Infectious Diseases (ODDNID), National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC), Division of Violence Prevention (DVP). DVP is committed to stopping violence before it begins. The Division’s work in violence prevention involves:
Through its programs and initiatives, DVP works with national organizations, state and local health agencies, researchers, and other partners to develop, implement, and promote effective violence prevention programs, practices, and policies.
DVP is seeking highly qualified candidates for a full-time Senior Service Fellow position as a Health Scientist. Ideal candidates will have research experience and subject matter expertise in preventing adverse childhood experiences that includes the perpetration of child abuse and neglect, child sexual abuse, or other adverse childhood experiences and social determinants of health. Exposure to adverse childhood experiences, including child abuse and neglect and child sexual abuse, is a serious public health problem and can have long-term impact on health and well-being. The good news is these forms of violence are preventable. |

Duties The incumbent will:
Basic QualificationsEducation:Degree: Bachelor’s or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Educationexternal icon at the time the degree was obtained.
