The OPaL Lab at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time three-year Postdoctoral Associate position. The anticipated start date is January 4, 2021. The Postdoctoral Associate will work on an NSF-funded project reconstructing global ecosystem change across the Mid-Miocene Climatic Optimum using fungal microfossils. The goal of this position is to develop expertise in fungal palynology and use of fungal association paleoecology to build a large-scale, long-term dataset to be incorporated into climate models for the Middle Miocene.
REQUIREMENTS:
PhD in geology or geography (palynology, paleoecology, paleobotany, paleontology), biology (mycology, palynology, botany), or a related discipline (e.g., agriculture, anthropology, etc.).
Experience with paleoecological and paleoclimatic proxies OR with fungal biology/ecology.
Experience with quantitative data analysis.
Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Spanish language skills are desirable, but not required.
Have valid US Passport.
