Wellesley College is a proud participant in the Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement Program and is seeking our inaugural Program Director to develop and implement a vibrant Wellesley McNair Scholars Program. The Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program is a federally funded TRIO Program that supports students from low-income, first generation, and underrepresented minority groups successfully preparing for doctoral study.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate for this critical position will be report to the Associate Provost and Academic Director for Diversity and Inclusion. The program director is responsible for all program services, activities, programming, budget management, strategic planning, staff supervision, grant preparation, and federal reporting requirements of the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program. Specific responsibilities include:
● Recruit and work with faculty mentors 
● Plan and supervise student program activities
● Oversee student recruitment and selection
● Plan and supervise summer research internships
● Serve as advocate for McNair scholars
● Plan and supervise office programming
● Oversee orientation for McNair scholars and faculty mentors
● Communicate program activities to the campus community 
● Prepare various reports for the college and grant-related federal reports
● Budget management
● Work with McNair Advisory Council 
● Liaison with appropriate campus programs and departments
● Oversee Evaluation of McNair Scholar Program services 
● Development of presentations and publications for the McNair Scholar Program. 
Responsibilities listed above are not inclusive of the position. Other duties will include providing support for various STEM programs that serve as a pipeline for the Wellesley McNair Scholars program, and coordination of McNair activities with other grant scholarship programs.

Qualifications
Candidates must have a minimum of an earned master’s degree (doctoral degree preferred). This is Wellesley’s first TRIO program, therefore experience in a TRIO office is strongly preferred. Well qualified candidates will have at least:
● five years’ experience in higher education in teaching, program administration, and/or student success initiatives
● three years’ experience working with low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented minority student populations
● three years’ experience in staff supervision, budget management, and program development and evaluation; and demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, administrators, and students. 
● experience administering and managing an educational opportunity program (McNair or TRIOprogram experience preferred)
● ability to plan, supervise, and evaluate the work of staff

Other qualifications include: strong computer skills; understanding of characteristics, obstacles, and experiences of low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented minority students; excellent interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge and Abilities
● Knowledge of student development and theory, and student programming
● Knowledge of TRIO federal guidelines, regulations, and legislation
● Budget management and analytical reporting skills
● Knowledge of McNair-related research trends, opportunities, and funding
● Knowledge of graduate study requirements, processes, and funding opportunities
