A fellowship opportunity is available in the Policy Research, Analysis, and Development Office (PRADO) within the Office of the Associate Director for Policy (OADP) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The selected participant will focus on research and related publication activities, which could include:

  • Conducting extensive literature searches and environmental scans, using PubMed and other databases
  • Conducting research and analysis on a wide variety of public health-related topics
  • Conducting systematic literature reviews and developing evidence synthesis that include screening articles based on inclusion/exclusion criteria and abstracting relevant information in an evidence table to support decision making
  • Reviewing and editing research documents for publication
  • Providing research assistance to implement a large research contract
  • Performing data analysis to support research projects on a wide variety of health topics
  • Facilitating the publication of research supplements (including reviews), formatting manuscripts for journal submission as per journal requirements, tracking documents through the publication process, and communicating with journal editors to facilitate publication of the documents and ensure deadlines are met

The Research Participation Program for CDC is administered by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE). The initial appointment is for one year, but may be renewed upon recommendation of CDC contingent on the availability of funds. The participant will receive a monthly stipend depending on educational level and experience. The participant must show proof of health insurance. The appointment is full-time at CDC in the Atlanta, Georgia, area. Participants do not become employees of CDC or the program administrator, and there are no fringe benefits paid.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree received within the last five years in a field related to one of the following: public health, health economics or health policy.
  • Experience with performing literature searches using PubMed, searching the internet using various browsers, and using Reference Manager or another citation database is desired.
  • At least one year of related experience is preferred, but not required.
