Candidates from all disciplines, especially those in underrepresented fields of study in the social sciences, humanities, engineering, dentistry, social policy, and LGBTQ+ studies are highly sought after.

Program Overview
Postdoctoral Fellowships for Academic Diversity at the University of Pennsylvania and CHOP are competitive programs aimed at enhancing diversity within the academic research community. Although Penn and CHOP share a common application form, their funding sources and review processes are separate. These fellowships offer promising researchers and educators mentored scholarly and research training, preparing them for faculty positions at major universities or appointments in sectors such as industry, government, or nonprofit organizations.

Stipend and Benefits
Stipend Rate: For 2025-2026, the starting stipend is $66,300 in the first year, with $2,000 increases in the second and third years.
Allowances: Fellows receive annual allowances for research and travel-related expenses ($7,000), and, if eligible, a one-time relocation expense (up to $5,000).
Benefits: Accepted postdoctoral fellows receive a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications
Candidates must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or DACA recipients.
Graduate students from Penn and other institutions who have completed, or will complete their Ph.D. requirements by the fellowship start date.
Postdoctoral scholars from other institutions who have completed their doctoral degree within the last two years.
Professional applicants with degrees such as M.D., D.M.D., V.M.D., J.D., DSW, or DVM, within a year of completing their post-degree professional training or terminal degree in their discipline.
Ineligible Applicants: Current postdocs, residents, and fellows at Penn or CHOP, as well as those who hold faculty positions at other institutions, are not eligible for this program
