Whitaker Fellows are biomedical engineers (or bioengineers, which is considered synonymous) ranging from graduating seniors to those conducting doctoral studies. Whitaker Scholars are biomedical engineers who have/will have a PhD by the beginning date of their awards. Eligiblity Award TypeRequirements All Whitaker AwardsDegree / Enrollment: No more than 3 years from most recent degree, or currently enrolled, Citizenship: Have U.S. citizenship, OR are a permanent legal resident of the U.S. Language: Have language ability to carry out the proposed project in the host country at the time of departure., Field / Specialty: In biomedical engineering or bioengineering NOTE: If you are at an institution that does not offer a formalized BME program, an applicant should have a demonstrated commitment to the field of BME. Significant coursework, research, laboratory/work experience are some of the ways to demonstrate such commitment.
