The Yale School of Medicine Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion would like to announce the opening of the application period for the Program to Advance Training in Health and Science (PATHS), an eleven month virtual initiative for undergraduates and recent graduates from underrepresented groups (as defined by the NIH) who are (1) two years out from matriculating into an MD, MD/PhD or an PhD program in the biomedical sciences (e.g. 2023) and (2) who may lack similar programs or resources at their institutions. (see attached flyer).

The PATHS program will provide participants from underrepresented backgrounds from across the US with:

  • a training curriculum specifically tailored to their future advanced degree track.
  • a supportive network;
  • opportunity to be formally mentored by current MD, MD/PhD, or PhD candidates at Yale School of Medicine (YSM)(optional )
  • All expenses paid visit to Yale University for further training and networking, Spring 2022 (if COVID permits)

The PATHS will be split into three tracks according to the advanced degree (MD, MD/PhD, or PhD)  students are interested in exploring. We will be accepting twenty participants for each track, for a total of 60 students in the entire cohort.
