I have a PH D and a post doc in marine biology and since graduation in 2001 I've been working as researcher in the Bio Optical Oceanography Laboratory, Department of Marine Sciences, at the University of Puerto Rico (Mayaguez Campus). I have expertise in various fields including remote sensing of the ocean, water optics, aerosol and atmospheric studies, marine biology, and UV radiation, among others.

Actual research topic: Study of Saharan dust reaching the Eastern Caribbean.
This project, sponsored by the NOAA Center for Atmospheric Sciences (NOAA EPP Program) evaluates the impact of African dust in our region including microbiology of particulate matter, characterization of dust events using remote sensing from ground instruments and satellites, and
evaluation of mineral content in dust samples.
