Educational Experiences: 2004- Bermuda Biological Station for Research, Bermuda. Completed a semester abroad studying tropical marine invertebrates and coral reefs. Learned new research methods including underwater photography and diving equipment. Conducted a ten-week research project on the diversity and recruitment of coral on an impacted reef in Castle Harbor, Bermuda.
Advanced Marine Field Methods, Big Pine Key, Florida. Conducted group research on a variety of habitats such as rocky intertidal & subtidal, magroves, and seagrass beds. Mapped the abundance and distribution of organisms. Completed an individual project examining migrations of snails over a complete tidal cycle.
2003- Introduction to Marine Field Methods, Roatan, Honduras. Conducted group research in tropical habitats such as mangroves, coral reefs, seagrass beds, and rocky subtidal. Mapped the abundance and distribution of organisms. Completed an individual project on the territoriality of the Great Land crab.

Research Experience: 2003- Intern, Rutgers University Marine Field Station, Tuckerton, NJ. Conducted field research on the interactions between the invasive European green crab and blue crab in Great Bay-Mullica river and Little Egg Harbor, NJ. Field sampling and a field experiment examined habitat selection and predation on the European green crab.
2004- Intern, Center of Marine Biotechnology (COMB), Baltimore, MD. Contributed to research for the commercial growth and management of blue crab within the Chesapeake Bay, MD. Developed successful laboratory protocols to rear high densities of larvae and juvenile blue crabs.
2005- Field/Lab Technician, Rutgers University Marine Field Station, Tuckerton, NJ. Conducted field research on the utilization of marsh surface by various coastal fishes along the Delaware Bay estuary. Study conducted to compare fish utilization within a Phragmites australis dominated marsh and Spartina sp. dominated marsh. Also conducted research involving the tracking of the movements of Morone saxatilis in Great Bay-Mullica river.
