The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine are pleased to announce the opening of the application for 2027 Biotechnology Regulatory Fellowships.

The Biotechnology Regulatory Fellowship is a six-month, immersive program that provides early-career professionals with an opportunity to explore regulatory frameworks for novel products of biotechnology. The fellowship program engages fellows in developing the evidence basis needed to meet future regulatory challenges presented by these products.

Fellows are in residence in Washington, D.C. from February to July 2027. They participate in a series of seminars led by subject-matter experts, conduct horizon-scanning activities to identify potential products of biotechnology that lack existing or have conflicting regulatory risk assessment pathways, and identify foci for capstone projects undertaken by pairs of fellows.
