The US Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) is releasing the first of seven requests for applications (RFA) to the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) to support research, education and extension in fundamental and applied food and agricultural services. There are six priority areas for funding including plant health and production and plant products and renewable energy, natural resources and environment.

The FASEB Excellence in Science Award, sponsored by Eli Lilly and Company, and recognizes the research accomplishments of women scientists, is accepting nominations for its 2012 Award. “Nominees are typically women who are senior in their field and nationally known for their outstanding contributions in research, leadership, and mentorship,” according to the FASEB announcement. Nominees and nominators must be a member of GSA or at least one of FASEB’s 22 other societies.
