Sobre Mi:
María del Mar García Maldonado studied chemistry at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. In 2004, she participated in a REU at UPR-RP under the guidance of Dr. Ana R. Guadalupe and the graduate student Dr. Mariem Rosario Canales. María continued the research of Electrochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Gold-Covered Porous Silicon Surfaces and the results were presented in the American Chemical Society- 229th Meeting in San Diego, CA. In 2005, she participated in a REU-Chemistry Program at University of South Florida. The work done involved the production of customized Nafion membranes for fuel cell applications and was presented at the ACS 2005 Regional Meeting in Memphis, Tennessee. In 2006, she worked in the Characterization of Novel Ferrocene derivatives under the guidance of the doctoral student Rocío Cardona. She presented the research results in the Puerto Rico Interdisciplinary Scientific Meeting. After completing her bachelor in 2006, she joined the laboratory of Dr. Ana R. Guadalupe. She is recipient of the Alliance for Minority Participation fellowship. She presented the Graduate Seminar: RNA Interference:
Knockdown of Postranscriptional Gene Expression. Her interests are biosensors and biotechnology.
