Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Implementation Research Scientist will serve as a methodological expert within the implementation science team, with a primary focus on designing and applying rigorous implementation science approaches to advance research and practice. This individual will lead methodological support in areas such as quasi-experimental study design, implementation strategy design, and qualitative research (end-to-end). They will also contribute to research, evaluation, and analysis as needed, ensuring that projects are carried out with methodological rigor and practical relevance. The ideal candidate is strategic and can translate implementation science principles into actionable research and evaluation. A commitment to community engagement and co-creation are essential, ensuring that research and strategies are developed in partnership with those who use and are affected by them. Innovation, collaboration, and a willingness to push the boundaries of what is possible for our community are key components to success in this role.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Implementation Science Methodological Support:

• Design and apply quasi-experimental and other relevant study designs for implementation science research.

• Involve community and end users throughout the design and testing process to ensure strategies are relevant, acceptable, and feasible

• Lead the development and adaptation of implementation strategies, aligned with study goals and contextual needs.

• Provide methodological guidance to internal and external collaborators to ensure rigor and feasibility in implementation research.

• Partner with multidisciplinary teams to ensure implementation science principles are embedded in project planning and execution.

• Contribute to grant writing, reports, and presentations to support funding and dissemination efforts.

• Adapt implementation science theories and frameworks to design effective and sustainable implementation strategies and analysis plans.

• Help to identify and track metrics and leading indicators to measure the impact of strategies and interventions.

Other duties as assigned:

• Assist with projects as needed.

• Support organizational priorities and cross-team collaboration as assigned.

• Attend meetings and participate in other related activities as directed by manager.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

• Implementation science theories, models and frameworks

• Real-world study design and implementation strategy development

• Qualitative research methodologies and analysis techniques

• Evaluation and applied research methods

• Community engagement and methods for implementing programs and practices that are effective, safe, equitable, timely and patient-centered

• Co-creation and human-centered design approaches for engaging stakeholders and end users in research and strategy development.

• Health disparities and social determinants of health

 

Ability to:

• Provide methodological guidance and consultation to research teams.

• Think strategically and apply strong business acumen in research planning.

• Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.

• Manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.

• Design and conduct mixed methods research

• Apply implementation science theories and frameworks in a variety of contexts

• Exhibit strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

• Manage multiple assignments simultaneously

• Work and deliver under tight timeframes

• Manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders

Travel 1-3 times per year to conferences and/or in-person meetings.

 

Education and/or Experience:

• Advanced degree in science, implementation science, public health, health services research, or a related field

• Formal training in implementation science or three or more years’ experience conducting research in implementation science or applied health research.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Additional qualifications that may make a person even more effective in the role, but are not required for consideration)

• PhD or equivalent terminal degree

• Clinical and/or clinical research experience

• Community health experience

• Medical/scientific knowledge of stem cell transplantation and/or clinical care
