El fenómeno incrementó a una tasa anual de 9.6% entre 2011 y 2022

Cada semana durante la primavera, cuando se pone el sol, 30 estudiantes de la clase de Astronomía en la Universidad de Puerto Rico (UPR) en Cayey atraviesan el campus cargando sus telescopios y libretas. Vienen a estudiar la órbita de los planetas y las propiedades de los cuerpos celestes, pero, cada vez más, la contaminación lumínica les obstruye la vista del cielo nocturno.
