The Environmental Mutagen Society (EMS) is currently the primary intellectual forum for researchers interested in the development and application of molecular technologies for toxicological studies and for the development of methods for studying mutations and the mechanisms of mutation and DNA repair in model cellular systems as well as humans. This year, the EMS will have its annual meeting in Puerto Rico. The broad objective of the meeting is to provide a forum for integrating cutting-edge basic research in DNA repair, mechanisms of mutagenesis, and epigenetic regulation in response to environmental genotoxic agents with translational research, risk assessment, and regulatory concerns. The EMS meeting will also have a strong emphasis on networking opportunities for Latin American scientists with colleagues from Canada and the U.S., including Puerto Rico, as well as major educational and student outreach components. The meeting will be held at the Wyndham Rio Mar Resort on October 18-22, 2008. The web site for the meeting is at www.ems-us.org/AM2008/index.asp. Funds to attend the meeting can be solicited through MARC. In addition, a one-day pass will be available for students. For additional information please contact: Dr. Carlos A.
