FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The CUNY School of Medicine (CSOM) at The City College of New York (CCNY), is the only medical school in the City University of New York system. Our innovative curriculum allows students to complete both their undergraduate Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degrees in seven years. CSOM will graduate its first MED class in 2020. CSOM also has a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies (P.A.). Our mission is to provide access to medical education to talented youth from social, ethnic, and racial backgrounds historically underrepresented in medicine and to develop health professionals committed to practicing in under-served communities with a special emphasis on primary care. It has a reputation for excellence that has earned national acclaim for performance and a broad network of clinical sites for clerkships.
The Clinical Professor will report directly to the Assistant Dean for Medical Education and Faculty Development at the CUNY School of Medicine. The incumbent will develop, promote and perform teaching to medical students and medical school faculty in the approaches of active learning and oversee learning specialists/advisors to ensure medical student success. The candidate hired will also conduct research to advance and expand the field of active learning in medical education and medical student academic success.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in education, psychology, or counseling with at least 5 years of relevant experience and have a reputation and record of achievements in his/her profession of field of expertise; teaching experience at a university, medical center, and/or hospital at the undergraduate and/or graduate level; and proven administrative and leadership ability for use in the effective and successful collaborative effort with school faculty and staff; and experience working with diverse groups/students in higher education in an urban setting.
