RESEARCH & ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR 

The Research & Activities Coordinator will be part of the key personnel federally funded research projects in the School of Health & Sciences. He/she will participate in the day-to-day implementation of project activities; advise and help in data analysis and report elaboration; participate in all educational activities; be actively involved in course creation, project implementation, project evaluation, and career orientation activities concerning STEM undergraduate students.

This position is a temporary contract for a maximum of one (1) year, representing the current grant’s duration. The primary portion of this position is described under the U.S. Department of Education’s award (P120A190043) “Empowering STEM at Sagrado (ESTEMS).” This grant was awarded on October 1, 2019, and will conclude on September 30, 2023. The position will adhere to all stipulations listed under the grant proposal. The salary range is between $30,000 and $35,000 annually, based on the candidate's experience. The research coordinator will report directly to the ESTEMS Project Director and Center for Academic Research Director.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Minimum preparation: bachelor’s degree in science or health fields (master's or doctorate degree preferred, but not required)
  • At least six months of experience in academic and research duties (includes work-study or volunteer experiences)
  • Knowledgeable in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and videoconferencing apps
  • Self-motivated leader and great team-player
  • Fully bilingual (Spanish/English) with strong writing skills
  • Strong organizational skills, record keeping, and attention to detail

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow up on all activities related to the projects.
  • Ensures proper and efficient implementation of the projects.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports that the Project Director will present to Sagrado's administration and the U.S. Department of Education on travel, speaker fees, acquisition and installation of equipment and materials, identification of problem areas, corrective action taken, and outcomes.
  • Attend meetings (conference calls, face-to-face, video calls). Meet weekly during the first three months, then every two weeks.
  • Discuss the monthly report from the four Goal Coordinators of ESTEMS.
  • Counseling students in STEM courses, looking for internships or conferences.
  • Coordinate the Research Day in Sagrado.
  • Support all project activities, particularly regarding policies and procedures and personnel training.
  • Facilitate the timely flow of information and secure staff involvement, ensuring paperwork is processed, maintaining appropriate records, and communicating project progress and outcomes to superiors.
  • Advise and help in data analysis with students and faculty.
  • Participate in all educational activities.
  • Interest in writing grant proposals.
  • Interest and experience in research.
  • Support of research efforts by the team, including manuscript preparations and submissions.
  • Maintain orderly accessible data related to all research activities.
