A Research Assistant/Technician position is available in the Irazoqui lab in Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA. This is a new lab at the Program in Developmental Immunology (http://www2.massgeneral.org/devimmunol/index.htm), a new and dynamic research unit of the Department of Pediatrics and part of a thriving scientific community (http://innateimmunity.mgh.harvard.edu/). We use C. elegans to study transcriptional host responses to infection by bacterial pathogens of clinical relevance. The lab employs a multidisciplinary approach using genomics, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, and microscopy. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, or related sciences. Prior lab experience is required. Experience with C. elegans is preferred, but not essential. The lab technician will be a full member of the lab, participating in research and in lab management and organizational tasks. The job will include maintaining nematode, bacterial, DNA, RNA, and yeast stocks, making solutions, and organizing lab inventories and assisting with ordering and organization of supplies, assisting graduate students and Dr. Irazoqui with ongoing research projects, conducting an independent research project, keeping excellent records, and presenting at lab meetings and at local scientific conferences.  It is important that the candidate possess an eagerness to learn new scientific ideas and methods and be able to follow instructions with precision.
