The Stowers Institute for Medical Research (Kansas City, Missouri) is now accepting applications for Stowers Research Scholars, a mentored 1-year postbaccalaureate research fellowship. Through guided research experience and academic career mentoring, this program aims to increase the number of NIH-defined underrepresented students in fundamental biological research.  This year we are accepting up to three students for the inaugural class.

El estudiante Wilbert Andrés Ruperto Hernández, quien cursa su cuarto año en el Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica (INME) del Recinto Universitario de Mayagüez de la Universidad de Puerto Rico, obtuvo el Distinguished Undergraduate Award que otorga la Universities Space Research Association (USRA). 

Egresado del RUM obtiene $2 millones en subvenciones para investigaciones de cáncer

El doctor David Soto Pantoja, egresado del Recinto Universitario de Mayagüez (RUM) de la Universidad de Puerto Rico (UPR), quien, en la actualidad, es principal investigador del Departamento de Cirugía, Cáncer y Radiología Oncológica de Wake Forest University, en Carolina del Norte, obtuvo tres subvenciones que suman $2 millones, para investigaciones que ayudarán a combatir la propagación del cáncer.  

La primera fue de $800 mil de la Asociación Americana del Cáncer; otra de alrededor de medio millón, del Instituto Nacional de Cáncer; y una tercera de $200 mil, otorgada en conjunto por el Brest Cancer Research Foundation y la American Society for Radiation Oncology.
