Born and raised in Puerto Rico, I am an advocate for the creation of physical forums where scientists and local communities can interact and achieve common goals harnessing scientific data and utilizing effective science communication strategies.
As a scientist, I am interested in the evolution of the vertebrate immune system. Particularly in understanding the evolution of the vertebrate immune system and the applicability of such knowledge in areas such as astrobiology, space travel, and Artificial Immune Systems (in Artificial Intelligence).
As an avid informal educator, I engage in the use of informal learning strategies to supplement curricular education. Hands-on, minds-on activities are important to contextualize important concepts that may be difficult to assimilate without an interactive experience.
In my spare time, you can find me practicing tango.
