CellVitro Laboratories was founded for the research, development and commercialization of biotechnology program of plant tissue culture in collaboration with a Canadian company and consultative resources of Puerto Rico. CellVitro Labs will establish research projects in the development of methodologies such as somatic embryogenesis , the establishment of embryogenic cell suspensions and the use of temporary immersion containers to implement on a large number of cultivars genetic and commercial interests.
CellVitro Labs is at the stage of strength partnerships that expand the knowledge of these methodologies, work on the optimization of the different phases of somatic embryogenesis, and in adapting the use of temporary immersion containers with the aim of implementing tool a large-scale propagation and as a basis for genetic improvement of agricultural plants.
Labs CellViitro efforts to establish links within their operations for train staff and students in cellular and techniques of genetic engineering methodologies. It also extends the work in collaboration with universities, as part of the acclimatization of the regenerated plants, the establishment of field experiments and to develop the methodology for assessing the genetic stability of regenerated plants.
CellVitro Labs can assist in training of undergraduate, postgraduate and research training in universities and research centers in the region.
The identification and transfer of genes of agricultural interest and the selection of improved cell lines will reduce pesticide use and provide a friendly production environment. The application of other tools such as Cryopreservation of embryogenic cell suspensions and temporary immersion cultivation stored indefinitely allow the selected cell lines without the risk of loss of genetic identity. Besides, the spread of these materials on a large scale will facilitate access to plant producers and farmers of better plants quality.
