The Biology Chapter Zeta Alpha at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez received several awards at the 62 Regional (Caribbean) Convention of the National Honor Biology Society. Several members of the chapter received awards and the Chapter recieved the award Dr. Boyd B. Palmer, as the best chapter of the Caribbean region.

Rocío del M. Saavedra Peña- 2nd place for oral presentation
Melanie A. Torres Santana- 1st place for poster presentation
Lorein Moya Rodríguez- 2nd place for poster presentation
Alberic P. De León Laguna- 3er place for poster presentation
