Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students

Now in its 12th year, ABRCMS is the largest, professional conference for biomedical and behavioral students, including mathematics, attracting approximately 3,300 individuals, including 1,700 undergraduate students, 400 graduate students and postdoctoral scientists and 1200 faculty, program directors and administrators. Students come from over 350 U.S. colleges and universities. All are pursuing advanced training in the biomedical and behavioral sciences, including mathematics, and many have conducted independent research. The conference is designed to encourage underrepresented minority students to pursue advanced training in the biomedical and behavioral sciences, including mathematics and provide faculty mentors and advisors with resources for facilitating students’ success. More than 500 representatives from graduate programs at US colleges and universities as well as scientists from government agencies, foundations, and professional scientific societies join ABRCMS in the exhibitors program to share information about graduate school and summer internship opportunities. These representatives present research opportunities, funding sources, and professional networks.

The advance registration discount is still available! The discount offers $100 off the registration fee for the conference, which has provided opportunities for undergraduates to pursue advanced training in the biomedical and behavioral sciences, including STEM, for more than a decade. While an ABRCMS focus is supporting undergraduate research, all attendees – including graduate students, postdoctoral scientists, and faculty and administrators – value the event’s strong lineup of information-rich workshops, scientific presentations, professional development opportunities, and networking events. For the latest registration, program, and speaker updates, visit http://www.abrcms.org.

Needed – Abstracts and Judges. Undergraduates and baccalaureates are encouraged to apply for the FASEB MARC Travel Award, which can help defray ABRCMS registration and travel-related expenses. (Graduate students and postdoctoral scientists are not eligible for this award.) Also, postdoctoral scientists, faculty members, program directors, and senior-level graduate students are encouraged to serve as ABRCMS abstract reviewers and/or onsite presentation judges. Travel awards are available for first-time judges. The application deadline is September 28 for the FASEB MARC Program Travel Award and the ABRCMS Judges' Travel Subsidy.
