2016 SingularityU Puerto Rico Global Impact Competition is a challenge to find the most innovative Puerto Ricans with the skills, passion, and ideas or projects that could potentially impact in a positive manner the lives of millions of people around the world through the use of exponential technologies within 5-10 years. Innovators from all academic and professional backgrounds are welcome, especially with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics backgrounds and who like to solve problems with moonshot thinking. The winner will have a confirmed spot at Singularity University for its flagship 10-week Global Solutions Program (GSP) from June 18 to August 28, 2016 at NASA Research Park in Silicon Valley. The costs for the participation in the GSP will be covered by a scholarship by the Puerto Rico Science, Technology, and Research Trust.

Singularity University is a benefit corporation that provides educational programs, innovative partnerships and a startup accelerator to help individuals, businesses, institutions, investors, NGO’s and governments understand cutting-edge technologies, and how to utilize these technologies to positively impact billions of people. It was founded by Peter Diamandis, creator of XPrize, and by Ray Kurzweil, current director of Engineering at Google. It’s sponsored by NASA and Google, and backed by organizations that are innovation leaders, such as Genentech, IDEO, International Space University, and others. 


Its flagship initiative is the Global Solutions Program, which convenes leaders, entrepreneurs, and technologists for 10 weeks to work on team-based technology solutions to widespread global challenges.
