We have a new program opportunity here at Cal State Monterey Bay that might be of interest to tenure track faculty, professional research staff and postdocs in the ocean sciences.

We are accepting applications for the NSF Diverse Ocean Science Community through Collaboration (DOCC) program. The program provides professional development for faculty, professional research staff, postdocs and grant staff around reframing how minority serving institutions (MSIs) and tier 1 research institutions (R1) collaborate on NSF coastal and ocean science research proposals.

DOCC provides a space for participants from MSI and R1 equivalent campuses to come together to develop novel research proposals that blend the unique strengths of both institution types and their respective communities. More broadly, DOCC aims to support diversifying the composition of institutions receiving research funding through NSF Ocean Science. This is a four month program that consists of a series of online synchronous and asynchronous activities culminating in an in person NSF IDEAS lab that will be held on the CSUMB campus in late summer 2022. Participants are provided with a stipend and access to travel funds to enable campus visits to further develop proposal ideas. Participants will also have the opportunity to receive feedback on their project ideas from NSF Ocean Science program officers during their participation in the DOCC program. We anticipate accepting up to 100 participants from around the U.S.

See the following link or attached flyer for additional details: https://csumb.edu/cme/docc/

Applications are due March 21, 2022. Please feel free to share with any colleagues who may be interested in participating. If you have any questions, please contact us at cme@csumb.edu
