On May 1, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) which aims to protect the privacy of Americans' personal genetic information and prevent it from being misused by health insurance companies and employers to discriminate against individuals based on their genetic makeup.

Environmental noise could cause species to move away from their habitats, alter their behavioral patterns and even damage their auditory systems. These are the preliminary results from an investigation that is part of an interagency agreement between the Environmental Quality Agency, the Department of Natural and Envirmental Resources and the Puerto Rico Conservation Trust.
