Puerto Rican students receive awards in prestigious scholarship programs

We would like to congratulate Dr. Nicolle Rosa Mercado, a Borinqueña who was recently selected for the ultra-competitive Hanna H. Gray Fellows Program. A graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, Cayey, and Yale University for her PhD, Nicolle was also part of our Yale Science Academy program in 2017. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins University.

RUM student receives $10,000 from prestigious Google video game grant

Nicole Noemí Román Correa is the only young woman enrolled at the University of Puerto Rico to be part of the select group of scholarship recipients.


University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez Campus (RUM) student Nicole Noemí Román Correa was selected to receive the Generation Google Scholarship for Women in Gaming 2022.

The scholarship will grant her $10,000 to cover her study expenses and an invitation to a virtual conference to meet the other winners and Google leaders.

Puerto Rican microbial ecologists represent Puerto Rico at ISME18, the International Congress on Microbial Ecology in Lausanne, Switzerland.

San Juan, Puerto Rico (Tuesday, August 16, 2022) - A few weeks before the 20th edition of the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) is held in Puerto Rico, the Scuba Dogs Society (SDS) began today its traditional recruitment of leaders interested in training as coastal captains for the event to be held on Saturday, September 17.
