Second CienciaPR Symposium

 

At Ciencia Puerto Rico we often receive questions from students pursuing graduate studies in science, engineering or mathematics who are seeking information on how best to prepare themselves for a professional career inside or outside academia. One of our goals is to support the scientific community and connect them with role models, mentors, experts and opportunities to assist in their education and training.

It is with this purpose that in collaboration with the RCMI Program of the University of Puerto Rico (UPR), we are pleased to present our second educational symposium entitled:   

Charting a Map for Success: 
Skills and Strategies for Graduate Students in STEM

This event aims to train graduate students to take control of their training and develop skills and strategies that will help them excel in their studies and better position themselves for the next step in their career plans.

We will discuss topics such as:

  • key skills to excel in graduate school
  • the importance of scientific outreach
  • how to establish good mentoring relationships and professional networks
  • key elements to writing a good grant proposal
  • marketing and negotiation strategies
  • and more!

In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to interacuar scientific professionals in various academic and non-academic careers and ask questions during a panel.
