Severeal students that attedend public schools obtained the high scores in the College Board. Several of these students are from schools specialized in STEM education.

Puerto Rico's governor Alejandro García Padilla announced that seniors from public schools will be able to take the College Board exam free of charge starting this september.  He made the announcement during a visit from the Supreme Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor with elementaryt and middle school students.  Up to 27,00 students will be able to take advantage of this opportunity.  The exam will be given once a year during school hours and at the school they attend.
