Aguadilla, P.R. - Con el enfoque de educar sobre la energía solar renovable a jóvenes de escuela superior del País, la División de Educación Continua y Estudios Profesionales (DECEP) de la Universidad de Puerto Rico en Aguadilla anuncia la apertura de las inscripciones de su campamento de verano Photovoltaic Solar Energy Summer Camp que comenzará el sábado, 2 de julio de 2022.

The work of the community-based organization Casa Pueblo in favor of renewable energy and energy independence have led them to become the face of Google's Project Sunroof, a tool created to calculate the potetial of solar roofs around the world.

Casa Pueblo, a grassroots and community-based organization in Adjuntas has developed an initiative called "50% con Sol", which aims for half of the energy produced in Puerto Rico to be sourced from the sun by 2027.

Apply for the Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon

This Solar Decathlon, which spans 2019 and 2020, gives teams the option to participate in one of two Challenges: the Design Challenge or the Build Challenge. Teams that enter the Design Challenge must select from six allowable building types to create their design. Teams that enter the Build Challenge must choose to compete with a “Local Build” house or with a transportable “National Showcase” house.

The National Wildlife Refuge in Vieques is the only one of its kind in Puerto Rico to produce its own electricity based on solar power. For that they will be recognized by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
