Welcome to CienciaPR, an expert and resource network for all who are interested in science and Puerto Rico.
I am a First-Year PhD Student in the Immunology program at Stanford University. I have diverse research interests and I am in the process of exploring them. I am interested in conducting Neuroimmunology because I am interested in understanding the link between the nervous system and the immune system and how they influence each other. The brain does not act in isolation, so I am curious as to how the immune system plays a role in the functions of the nervous system. I am also interested in cancer research and understanding the basic cell biology at play.
I am interested in the phenomenon of cellular reprogramming and how it can be applied to cancer. The project I am currently working on attempts to do this by investigating whether we can reprogram leukemia cells into dendritic cells in an effort to stimulate an immune response against them.
