About Me and Project Info

About Me:

I obtained my undergraduate degree in Industrial Microbiology from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez Campus. Following this, I participated in a Post-Baccalaureate at Duke University. Currently, I am pursuing my graduate studies in Biomedical Sciences and Translational Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. I am working under the mentorship of Dr. George Liu and the primary aim of our research is to understand host pathogen interactions.

Project Info:

My Dissertation focus on the study of the host adaptive immune response to Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. Our studies have found that lack of protection upon S. aureus re-infection is due to modulation of the innate and/or adaptive immune responses during the initial stages of infection.
