Ponce Health Sciences University: Research assistant in cell/molecular/cancer biology

JOB DESCRIPTION.  Looking for a dynamic research assistant with a bachelors or master’s degree in general biology, pharmacology, biotechnology, cell, molecular or biochemistry.  The project involves addressing the role of centrosome amplification and chromosome instability in breast cancer.  The research assistant will perform a variety of administrative tasks such as ordering, perform general inventories, train personnel, write biosafety and mouse protocols, and ensure the proper physical appearance of the lab.  Must have the leadership skills to manage a laboratory.  At least one year of experience as a research assistant in a cell, molecular or biochemistry laboratory are required.  The research assistant will work with minimal supervision and this is why previous experience is required.  The research assistant should have experience in basic techniques in molecular biology, such as Western blot analysis, PCR, and real-time PCR, including primer design.  Experience in culturing of mammalian cells is necessary.  Must be willing to handle mice and perform duties such as identification of mice, weaning, obtaining tissue samples for DNA extraction, genotyping and monitoring mice for tumor formation.  This research assistant must have the drive and leadership skills necessary for supervising the daily operations of a laboratory, and should be open to learn a plethora of cancer cell biology techniques.   Please send your CV to Dr. Harold I.
