UPR Mayagüez student, Yazeli Cruz, brings home second place in International Meeting's Undergraduate Paper Competition

Yazeli Cruz, an Industrial Engineering Student from UPR Mayagüez, showcased her work on the characterization of Alzheimer´s Disease with an Operations Research Approach in the IEOM International Conference on Operations Excellence and Service Engineering in Orlando, Florida, on September 10-11, 2015. 

She won the 2nd Place in the Undergraduate Student Paper Competition within a group of several students from all over the world. Her paper is coauthored by UPRM students Yaritza Santiago, Valerie González and Ponce Health Sciences University Dr. Clara E. Isaza. They are all part of the Applied Optimization Group (AOG) at UPRM. 

This award marks the ninth year in a row that students from AOG win awards in technical competitions.
