ABOUT THE CONFERENCE:

In response to the underrepresentation of historically disadvantaged populations with advanced social and behavioral science degrees, STEM degrees, or in advanced research and academic positions, the conference seeks to:

Increase exposure of advanced research careers in the academy to the next generation of investigators,

Ensure underrepresented scholars are equipped with access to role models and networking opportunities to succeed in the academy,

Increase efforts to recruit and retain underrepresented graduate students, researchers and faculty members.

The conference includes plenary discussions and presentations by renowned researchers and activist scholars. The conference also features early career investigators during poster sessions, and includes networking events focused on support in the following areas:

•Securing Fellowship Opportunities •Securing Mentors and Sponsors •Developing Research Programs • NavigatingRacism/Sexism/Heterosexismin

Graduate School and the Academy •Balancing Family and Work

ATTENDEES: The Latina Researchers Conference brings scholars, researchers and aspiring investigators from across the U.S. to address the underrepresentation of diverse scholars in research activities and in academia. Participants include research scientists, academicians, higher education administrators, students and various members of professional organizations and research institutes.

Deadline for submission of Poster proposals is November 15, 2013 at 11:59pm EST.

Deadline for submission of all other proposals is December 1, 2013 at 11:59pm EST.
