Dr. Giovanna Guerrero-Medina, Executive Director of Ciencia Puerto Rico and Director of the Yale Ciencia Initiative at Yale University will be giving a talk on Friday, March 13, from 2-3pm at the UPR-MSC
Ciencia Puerto Rico (CienciaPR, www.cienciapr.org) is an online community that collects more than 7,000 scientists, students, and educators in Puerto Rico and around the world for the purposes of promoting education and careers in science, education, math, and engineering (STEM). Through CienciaPR, members can identify and connect with potential research mentors, networking contacts, and trainees; advertise or seek scientific programs and opportunities; and take advantage of numerous STEM outreach opportunities. A recent collaboration with Yale University, has afforded CienciaPR the ability to expand and support more sophisticated programs and to collaborate with members who would like to leverage the platform. Dr. Guerrero-Medina will provide an overview of the platform and how it can benefit faculty and students and will present several new professional development and mentoring opportunities available through the platform. There will be time reserved at the end of the presentation for an open discussion with faculty and staff about how the platform can better serve their research and careers.
